Neurodevelopmental disorders in children

Autism and PANS/PANDAS

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. PANDAS, (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections), or PANS (pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome) are conditions where a variety of infections can trigger a dramatic sudden-onset neuropsychiatric symptoms in children, such as but not limited to obsessive-compulsive behaviors, anxiety and tics.

My background is in conventional Pediatrics which I practiced for 20 years before acquiring a functional approach to medicine. I now treat children and adults of all ages. I have done additional training to work with children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and PANS or PANDAS (collectively called basal ganglia encephalitis). I work with families to develop integrative treatment plans to help them navigate and treat these complex  neurobehavioral conditions. These neurodevelopmental disorders can be successfully addressed and treated and working with these families is some of my most rewarding work.
